[Experts] Fw: UN Resolution / UN Ocean Science Decade text

Dear colleagues,


We are pleased to inform you that the United Nations General Assembly this week adopted a resolution declaring a UN Decade for Ocean Sciences starting 1 January 2021.  IOC will lead the implementation of the decade.


We have attached a copy of the resolution and the extract on the Decade.


Also note that the Africa Union at its 22nd Ordinary Assembly in 2014 declared the "Decade of African Seas and Oceans" o run from 2015-2025. The decade was officially launched at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 25 July 2015 (African Day of Seas and Oceans).
