L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science
International Awards
2017 Edition

The L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO invite you to put forward the names of extraordinary female scientists for the 2017 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards.

The 2017 Awards will designate five outstanding researchers in the Physical Sciences, each working in one of the following regions: Africa and the Arab States, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America & North America.

The Awards will be presented in Paris during March 2017 to the five women laureates selected by an international jury for their outstanding contribution to scientific advancement. Each of the Laureates will receive €100,000.

  In order to nominate a candidate, please follow the registration procedure at the For Women in Science web site www.forwomeninscience.com<http://discov-her.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a53d891cfbd76956cc21c0274&id=3efe6587c4&e=f7a7c024c9>. From the site, you will be able to upload all the necessary documents in order to submit the nomination. Please note that nomination files must be submitted by midnight on June 20th 2016 (France GMT/UTC + 2h). Only completed nominations received through the platform by this deadline will be considered.

  We thank you for your active participation in ensuring that the best female researchers from each continent are recognized and rewarded for their scientific excellence.

ABOUT THE L’Oréal-UNESCO FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE PROGRAM: since its creation in 1998, the For Women in Science program has expanded each year. To date, the L’Oréal-UNESCO partnership has distinguished 92 eminent women at the height of their scientific careers and supported 2438 promising young women scientists through doctoral and postdoctoral Fellowships. Today, over 2530 women have been recognized in more than 112 countries.

  In 2009, two of the 2008 L’Oréal-UNESCO Awards Laureates received a Nobel Prize in their field of expertise: Elizabeth Blackburn in Medicine and Ada Yonath in Chemistry.

  SELECTION CRITERIA: The candidate must be recognized for her personal scientific excellence among the international scientific community – Be actively involved in scientific research – Be involved in any field of the Physical Sciences – Not be directly or personally involved in the For Women in Science program, as a jury member or otherwise, in any country.

  MULTIPLE NOMINATIONS & RENOMINATIONS: if you wish to nominate several candidates or re-nominate a candidate you presented in the past, you may do so.
