The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission has just launched the Commonwealth Rutherford Fellowship scheme aimed at postdoctoral researchers from other Commonwealth countries wishing to spend one or two years at a UK university.

The purpose of the scheme is to support world-class research and innovation, and to contribute to the UK’s research base by attracting high-calibre international candidates and encouraging links and collaboration. The intended beneficiaries are highly motivated PhD graduates whose proposed research topic is innovative, timely, and likely to lead to wider impact beyond the academic community and build research collaboration between the UK and other Commonwealth countries. Up to 50 fellowships are available and fellows must be in post before 31 March 2018.

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:
•        be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by a Commonwealth country other than the UK, or be a British Protected Person;
•        be permanently resident in a Commonwealth country other than the UK, and not based in the UK at the time of application;
•        be available to start the fellowship in the UK before 31 March 2018;
•        have been awarded their PhD no more than ten years prior to 1 November 2017;
•        not have previously held a Commonwealth Scholarship or Fellowship awarded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission;
• identify one UK institution to host their fellowship and provide a supporting statement from their proposed supervisor.

The deadline for applications is 12:30 on 11 December 2017 and further information is available at http://cscuk.dfid.gov.uk/apply/rutherford-fellowships/.

Please share this funding opportunity with any colleagues who may be interested in applying.
