The WCRP, jointly with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC), is organizing an international conference on sea level research that will address the existing challenges in describing and predicting regional sea level changes, and in quantifying the intrinsic uncertainties. It follows 11 years after the first WCRP sea level conference (Paris, 2006), and three years after the last Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It will provide a comprehensive summary of the state of worldwide climate-related large scale sea level research.
To submit your abstract and for more details, visit the conference website: http://www.sealevel2017.org
The conference, which will be held in New York, NY (USA) and hosted by The Earth Institute, Columbia University on July 10-14, 2017, is a 5-day event with a leading theme guiding the activities of each day. The structure of the conference will consist of plenary sessions followed by extensive poster sessions. In the evenings we are planning to hold "think-tanks" focusing on new science frontiers and activities.

POGO-SCOR Visiting Fellowship 2017 Programme Application Deadline 7 April
The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) is pleased to announce that the POGO-SCOR Visiting Fellowship programme for 2017 is now open for applications. The deadline for applications is 7 April 2017. The scheme is designed to promote training and capacity building leading towards a global observation scheme for the oceans, and is aimed at scientists, technicians, postgraduate students (preferably PhD) and post-doctoral fellows involved in oceanographic work at centres in developing countries and countries with economies in transition.
Priority is given to applicants in the early stages of their career development. The fellowship offers the opportunity to visit other oceanographic centres for a short period (1 to 3 months) for training on aspects of oceanographic observations, analyses, and interpretation. The fellowship is not meant for an academic course or to learn research methods. It provides financial support to cover the return airfare from the fellow's home country to the host institution, and a contribution towards accommodation and subsistence for the period of the visit.
For more information and details on how to apply please see: http://www.ocean-partners.org/pogo-scor-fellowship
