ANNOUNCEMENT:

Registration is now open to the International Phytoplankton Intercomparison (IPI) (formerly Bequalm) exercise round 2017. If you are interested in participating, please contact our administrator Finola Bradley (finola.bradley at marine.ie<mailto:finola.bradley at marine.ie> ). This year, we were planning on introducing Biovolume measurements  as a measure of biomass in the samples to complement the measurements we already take on abundance and composition of marine microalgae in the samples, but first we would like to ask the potential participants whether this new measurement is something their laboratory would be interested in doing and whether it is relevant to their activities. If we introduce this measurement, there will be a slight increase in the intercomparison fee as we would have to carry out this extra work on top of what we already do. The increase would be 50 euros per participant. So, please let me know if Biovolume is something you would like to be introduced and whether you would be willing to pay that bit extra for it.

When registering your laboratory with our administrator, please do not forget to send the full name, e-mail address and the full postal address of all the participants in your laboratory where the samples will be sent.
